The Glass
The glass comes with the impurities removed and is composed of quartz silica, which is the glass, soda and lime, which make it melt at a lower temperature, potash, which stabilizes it and lead which gives it clarity. The dust raised from "charging" the furnace is toxic and Jon wears a respirator and uses protective mitts and eyewear against the intense heat. This is a picture of the glass as it comes to us before being melted.
